the current guitar of choice for my jazz gigs at my sun city Palace hotel residency , my vintage Aria 1968 ES175 copy ...obviously made in the original japanese aria factory . she has a sweet traditional round fat jazz tone , needs a total refret as i guess they the original frets and somewhat worn down in 40 odd years of being played .... and oh so beautiful to look at .... the wood grain comes thru the finish and the binding has all aged so looks and feels so wonderful .....she plays beautifully ,well balanced and low buzz free action , one just touch's her lightly to play her and i must say she looks way cool on stage
i often wonder how many gigs this 43yr old guitar has done since '68 , and what mojo has been breathed into her over the years...... cos she's definitely been played thru the years and not been lying under someones bed..... i like the idea of a guitar with history
and one of my "wish's/dreams" when it comes to gear is to own a guitar that is as old as i am so it would have to be a 1964 made instrument......but this is close (only 4 years younger) in fact as old as my brother but that does not count ?
