Who do you use to transport big stuff

Still hunting around for that dream amp and I've thought about getting a 2nd hand one from SA(If I can find one eventually ??? )

I know there's a lot of you guys that courier and ship big cabs and more. Most places over here want 1k + to transport an amp here, I can just as well buy a brand new one then.

So who do you use?

P.S. If anyone knows of a nice Vox Valvetronix for sale second hand, I'm just a pm away ?

30KG or under, any size, Speed Services (Post Office) are the cheapest locally. They will insure for a price of 1% of the insured value - covers loss only though, not damage. RAM seems to be cheaper than many of the big couriers. The big couriers (DHL, UPS, etc.) charge a fortune if you are not a regular customer, but if you get via a shop somewhere, they usually have an account somewhere and will get a good rate.

Speed Services charge me R300 to send a DVD to South Africa, I REALLY don't want to see the costs of shipping an amp with them.

Ram doesn't come to Namibia and DHL is a little expensive, but might be the only option.

Ouch! That's almost as much a I paid to send a Tele from CPT to PE! But then, DHL charged me R360 to send an A4 envelope to the US...

You're just going to have to start coming to SA more often for "Holidays". ?

Try Quality Air Freight (http://www.qasrs.co.za/) or Etosha Transport (http://www.imperial.co.za/GD_ViewCompany.aspx?CompID=15 I think they only do bulk deliveries though). My company has used both of these companies for sending stuff to Namibia before. As far as I know the charges are lower than DHL (we use DHL as well, but they're expensive and in my experience they're pretty useless too).

Yeah, Etosha's good, but they can only ship if the truck is full, so there will be a significant wait.

Perhaps you could find a trustworthy individual who is driving up to Nam. Might make it easier?
