If you're in doubt about how "LP" it is, go do some research about the ACTUAL scale length of vintage Les Pauls.
I searched, found nothing, and I call BS.
Gibson has used three different scale lengths and called them all 24.75": 24.562", 24.625", 24.75". IINM the majority of vintage models were actually 24.625". On top of that, there was often a variance from the official scale length due to tooling and luthier errors.
1. 24.625 ain't 24.5
Nope, but it sure is closer to 24.5 than 24.75 ?
2. If such things arise from variance in measurement technique, it means even less.
So you only consider the spec-sheet as accurate? Not the actual instrument?
But don't some of the PRSs have Gibson scale-length anyway?
No none are spec'd at 24.75". Most are 25". Some are 24.5" (SC245, Santana, and some limited edition models). Some are 25.25" (513). Some are 25.5" (305).
Anyway I don't want anyone thinking I'm trying to be provocative. I'm really just trying to highlight that there are some variances and that excluding some models but including others in the list was maybe a little judgemental (since PRS and others were specifically excluded - probably because their usual scale length is 25"). PRS SC245 is probably more LP than most. It makes for an interesting topic of discussion and I really wouldn't mind having that discussion over a beer or 3 (I won some tickets to the Brews and Blues fest if anyone wants to hook up and chat on the 26th). [Edit] I just gave the last free ticket away. I'll be the fat shaven-head opinionated GFSA dude who likes to type "." if anyone wants to meet-and-greet on the day. ?
