The Les Pauls of GFSA (rule modification)

singemonkey · 2011-03-16T13:05:47+00:00

We can't let the Strat maniacs have all the fun. Let's see all the Les Pauls. All the ones you've posted before, and the ones you haven't. We're talking all of the single cutaway, mahogany backed guitars with a Gibson Les Paul scale-length. We want to see the Epiphones, the Tokais, the Tanglewoods, the Corts, the Gibsons, the Ibanez. And then say just a little bit about 'em. rule mod: Only post pictures of your specific guitar. No product shots. Even if it's a grim and grainy cell-phone pic, at least we know it's the very same guitar you plunk away on (you need not delete existing product shots, just make sure to post a pic of the actual guitar sometime ? ) Here are mine which you've all seen before: 2009 Tokai LS150 Had this one since the last year. Absolute beauty. My main gigging guitar. Pure quality. Super-comfortable chunky neck. 1983 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe One of the infamous Norlin-era Gibsons. Heavy as about four of Reinhard's LP, and about 12 of Nick's ? but I love it anyway. Did a lot of modding before I was happy with it (mini-hums to P90s, roto-grip tuners, Bigsby B7, bell knobs, etc.). Strung with .11s now. Bit of a slim neck. Crazy low "fretless-wonder" type frets. Just needs a grounding issue sorted out before it's ready to gig. Had this since '95 and it's the possession I run back into the burning house for. Over to you guys.

haha, nice eagle eye u got there....

the guitar sound pretty good through the marshall, i don't really play the Mesa much, our other guitarist uses it more..... its just too loud to play with in the flat where i stay..... actually havent played the LP through the Mesa yet, maybe i should give it a bash tnite.

ActionArnie

Nice! Another LP classic ... yeh the pickups are hot and a little picky about what you're plugging in to. With my rig at the moment the stock pups sound really sweet.

studmissile

This is mine, '93 standard, wine red. Don't play her as much as my tele's
but I do love looking at her!!!!!

Haha. I'd also keep reposting if I had a unique guitar like that.

Hi Mark,

Wow! Please give us some more details about this guitar.

Also I see you are also in Durban. Any chance of seeing this guitar as well as some of the others you have posted in recent threads in person?

Regards,
Shaun

And Mine Ibby Les Pauls Professional 73 ish

singemonkey

Haha. Very cool those old Ibanez recording types. How does it feel and sound?

Attila

Singe ....

she feels absolutely fantastic, nice neck... bit heavy in the tail ....action is as low as needed ...... but sounds a bit dull ,
I am thinking of grafting some P90's underneath the exciting pickup caps not to destroy the aesthetics.

Andre "the tonerider dude" measured his p90's and it's about 4 mm too big in width . I am sure I will end up buying set and making it fit ... in time ....

peace

My heart does lean toward a plain top R8 !

Not too fancy, 97/8 studio with SD 59 and JB in the right places.
Sperzel locking tuners and strap locks
black hardware

Just thought I'd one that is missing from these pages

Since these are doing the rounds again, I think this needs a bump. Surely we've had a few more LPs here since the end of 2011? Sadly I haven't ☹ but I should get some pics of the war wounds on mine since I put it in the first post. It's taken a beating in just three years.
