I dunno about you chaps, but when I play one of these I just want to rock out. It's something about the feeling of the weight, the smaller body, the chunky neck....
I play an LP 75% of the time, so I play almost everything on them. When they're all cranked up through an amp though, it's difficult to shut up.
Most of the original LPs were in a middle zone weight-wise between what we usually experience. Reinhard's R9 gives a good impression of what the guitar hero's with their '50s 'bursts experienced when they strapped them on. It's noticeably lighter than my Tokai, but a lot heavier than the modern chambered LPs. Certainly not enough weight to tire you out, but enough that they feel substantial. About 3.8 or so kilos. My Tokai's probably about 4.5 or so. My Gibson. Hooboy. Probably more like 6.5.
Bob, I'm all for grumpy judge Bob, but Don was certainly well within the rules of this game ?
