See, this is why I don't get people who want to emigrate. Sure, we have crime, but that's not the same as losing your house, business and family all in one go. Well, usually it isn't. I'll take SA's manageable crime over earthquakes & typhoons. At least, with crime, you can take steps to LOWER your risk of falling victim. With quakes and things, you're at the mercy of mother nature. Good luck!
Statistics, my brother. The chance of this happening to you even in a high earthquake zone like Turkey, Iran, Japan, or California is utterly minute. Saying that, most affluent people (that would be us) in SA die of old age.
