my acoustic, yamaha FG-402. had it for about 7 years or so now, its still mint, lived its entire life in a proper case, has a really nice sound.

my MiM Fender Strat, quite an early model, MN1 code which makes it 91 odd, Mexico only started making in 1990.

guitar bling ? genuine fender F plate I bought off ebay as the plane jane silver one looked rubbish ?

my Fender FM65R and Boss DS-1 pedal

amp looks tiny compared to my housemates bass amp ?

pedals, left to right, Ibanez Tube Screamer (TS10, not TS9 or 808 unfortunately), Boss DS-1, Behringer Ultra Phase Shifter and Ibanez Stereo Chorus.

bummed I sold this actually, my Hohner Les Paul copy, had a nice sound but after sleeping in a case for 5 years the neck went a bit weird..

plan on hotrodding the strat, new pickups (no clue what yet) and a few mods off http://www.ratcliffe.co.za ?

wow now that I work it out about 15 years ? figured Id be much better than I am when you think of how long that is. been in one or two bands, used to play the local pub in east london, buccaneers, fairly often back in the day ? music wise quite broad ranging from beetles to creedence to pearl jam, foo fighters, was a huge guns n roses fan in the late 80s early 90s, nowdays seem to be settling on the old bluesy hendrix stuff and johnmayer type jams. looking to set up a cover band to first do acoustic stuff and then full band stuff if I can find interested parties

Umm... yes? 91 comes after 90 ?

If you meant 92 - Fender history is full of discrepancies like serial numbers, don't sweat it. Also quite likely that the neck was made in '91, but the guitar was only assembled in '92 - some stock Fenders have parts made in three different years.

Good choice in web sites, BTW. ?

either or ? when I change the pickups I'll see if they still mark the body somewhere under the scratchplate to see ? age doesnt phase me though, with slightly better pickups it'll be all I need until I can finally afford a oldish les paul that is ?

a pic of my strat next to a friends american deluxe plus. cant see very clearly in the picture but the fender lace pups and the mother of pearl scratchplate have yellowed quite alot, I think it looks kinda cool. strange though seeing as my guitar is older.

How old is that Ibanez chorus? I had one looked like that ... oh.... 25 years ago. Really good pedal.

probably quite old, bought it from this old guy off gumtree. said he hasnt played for years. very solid pedal, weighs a ton. ?

Great stuff. I remember a buddy had one of those Hohner Les Pauls. They were about the only half-way decent LP copy you could get in SA at one point.

I just bought a TS9 to replace my old TS10. Dude, I was seriously astonished by the difference. I didn't think it would be possible. I just reasoned that, since I needed to replace the TS10 anyway, I might as well get an 808 or a TS9. The delicious warmth that came out of my amp when I first turned the TS9 on... unbelievable. The TS10's a great pedal. But you should grab a TS9 if you see one come up cheap.

TS9 is definately on the cards, Im just keeping the TS10 around until its replaced. Would be nice to play them side by side to get a nice reference ?

While googling MiM Strat Serials for dating I stumbled across:

Just got a cool email from Bob Willocks of Fender Consumer Relations. He said Mexican made Standard Strat's (P/N 013-4602) were introduced in January of 1991.

He also said the MN1 serial number decals were used for 1991 and into the beginning months of 1992. Numbers like mine, beginning with a zero after MN1, are "indeed made in 1991" and serials MN12 and above are generally 1992's.

but he did say they were "excellent guitars" and the bodies were made with Alder and the necks were glossy finished. The MIM's of today are Poplar and the necks are satin finished.

So in my opinion, you can safely say that from 1991 to 2001, MIM Strat's were made with Alder. From 2002 to 2005, they were made with Poplar. And from 2006 to the present they're made with Alder again.

Sweet MIM, I dunno what it means to you but i have always wanted a 91 or 92 MIM standard strat because like you said you have that glossed neck, my friend had one back then and i bought one in 94' and it was poplar but didn't have that gloss neck. those very early 90's were made from poplar and they were sooo nice for mexican strats.

Not sure what that all means but its interesting ?

Newest addition I picked up this morning. To say its in mint condition is an absolute understatement! Have the footswitch for it too. 8)

Question, on the back of the amp it says Warning this device must be earthed but the power cable only has a two prong plug on it and its mounted into the amp, you cant change it... ???

Happy new amp day! Nice find - the Tweeds are good lookin' and sound great too.

Cut off the US style plug (where the earth comes from a pin on the socket side) and fit a normal 15A plug and you're golden. Common thing with Peavey - I don't know why the importer doesn't swap them out 'cos they're usually humming when you try them in a shop.
