Converting SSS strat to HSS

Finally realised thati prefer humbuckers to single coils in the bridge .. (heretic i hear u say )

so which way is the way to go .... are the single coil looking pups which are HB's as good as HB's? would save replacing the pickguard but i dont want to do this half heartedly and in no rush ... or should i just go the wole hog an replace pickguard too ... (not so easy being left handed but do able)

will i need to replace pots as well? if so which?

Are you talking about rail HB's vs normal HB's?

the rails have a unique sound, like P90's also have a unique sound.

Go play different guitars at a music shop before you decide. If you want the HB sound then get full sized HB's

I like the rail sound in a strat, but not the normal HB. On the other hand, I like the HB sound of les pauls etc.... It is up to your ears. ?

The rails pickups are more like humbuckers than single-coils, but I agree they are not quite the same. Also going full humbucker lets you choose from hundreds of different pickups instead of the only half dozen or so rails pups available.

If you go for full sized, put a covered humbucker in there. "Why Singe? Does the pickup cover improve the tone?"

easy peazy.. i reckon try some strats with a bucker see how you like it.. similarly try some strats with a rail in the bridge..

its down to pref really. if you opt for a bucker its as easy as getting a pickguard cut to tht config and a new pot.

as far as buckers go.. yaw.. lots of options but the single coil stacked units from SD are def worth checking out. my boss has one in his 72 strat and it rocks

easy enough said problem is being left handed strats are hard enough to come by let alone HSS strats or ppl with these "stacked" units... so i fly blind most of the time ..also i need to try them with my orange (which loves buckers as well) ..what sounds good on one amp may not on another kinda thing....

i will look around ...testing is the best and cheapest option

Well In the context of my strat the HB was just too much. I don't think the configurations was well thought out and this HB was WAY hotter than the two singles.

I think the Fender Tex Mex HB should be canned completely. It was lifeless, soulless and sexless (yes I said that) The only reason I'd think to hang on to it is if I ever want to sell the Strat and put it back in.
