Crappy banner ads

Where do these latest banner ads come from?

This is where the problem lies... place irrelevant ads and visitors tend to block them all out... pissing off the ligitimate advertisers who might take their business elsewhere. To me irrelevant advertising is like spamming.
I'm not so sure that they're irrelevant. Maybe the guys who rent the advertising space from GFSA have looked at the demographics here and matched those the adverts.

EG the Alpha course ads. A significant portion of the active membership on GFSA are Christians. Doesn't it seem rather unsurprising that that particular ad has popped up?

A lot of these ads don't float my boat. That doesn't mean that they're not appropriate for the general membership of the forum.

I'm not saying that they are all irrelevant, but to me the majority are. Homework? I don't think so... from religious weekends to "talk to me I'm waiting for you"... somebody pushed a generic 'lifestyle' button... hardly target marketing. To me it is very poor/lazy scheduling.

You're defending all of the ads as appropriate?
Most of them?
Or just some of them?

What are the chances that I was the 1 millionth user?
Has anyone else also been the 1 millionth user?
How can there be more than one?

Some of them, and I think it's a bit much to portray me as "defending" them. It's banner adverts, not the Spanish Inquisition.

But OK.... I concede the point. Though I don't know why people get hot under the collar about these things. They've been around for some time and are clearly nonsense. I just look at them and say "nonsense!" and then ignore them.

Interestingly I mostly get the Guitartone advert. I seldom see anything else. I know it's a bad luck of the draw sort of thing, so it's weird that I nearly always get the same ad.

This sort of thing seems to be happening more and more around here lately (although usually it's far more subtle).

I'm tempted to point out that this is vindication for me because clearly they know I'm a married man who owns a blackberry.

However it's probably the crocs.

Just to let you guys know... Yes, we need ads to survive, but misleading methods to get clicks and online dating ads are not appropriate for this forum, so we will take it up with Adgator and have those ads removed.
