What is the best movie you've never seen?

Comedy- (I dont thinnk I have a favourite)
Gangster- Goodfella's (obviously)
War- Tigerland

I love so many films, I am big into Zombie and B grade films, Mondo Films (Zombie Cannibal Holocaust, Man from Deep River etc etc) Grindhouse stuff, Planet Terror.
I love Star trek, And have seen EVERY EPISODE from the original 3 seasons, as well as every other season made......
STAR WARS, again I have them all, on original format, Digitally Remastered, and obviously the new ones, including the animated clone wars.

This year alot of great films have come out, Black Swan, The Kids are All Right, True Grit, Social Network, as well as alot of great films are coming out...

Now tell us what is the best movie you've NEVER seen. Should be interesting to hear that from a movie buff such as yourself.

Obviously, as some have pointed out, it's impossible to know because you haven't seen it. But I'm interested to know about the iconic movies that has garnered high praise from many others but which you have still not seen.

Requiem for a Dream.

Some movies just have me going, "If I watch this, it's going to bring me down hard and I'm going to hate the world for a while afterwards." I don't generally pay to get whipped.

I did go and see Black Swan though, (by the same director) and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I also ejoyed Pi. But Requiem just seems like it's going to make me hate life, no matter how good a film it is.

DOGTOOTH ( a greek film ) The ads for it look weird as hell, and disturbing.
Or.... La Horde, the best of French Zombie films. They take evrything over the top.

I cant believe so many have not seen Star Wars, Star Trek, and Matrix........... this is one weird situation

Actually to be honest, while I'm a huge fan of The Matrix myself I do feel the second and third movies detracted from the awesomeness of the first one.

Yes, I also find it somewhat shocking. To be fair though, personally I consider only Star Wars to be an absolute you-must-see-it-and-we-will-have-your-scalp-if-you-don't.

Like I said above, the Matrix was brilliant but the second and third films fizzled out. Star Trek, for some reason, never really got my juices flowing. I guess I'm just too much of a Star Wars fan to be able to take Star Trek seriously.

I don't know because I haven't seen it.

I've never seen Gone With The Wind. I've never seen Casablanca. Or Breakfast At Tiffany's. Or any of the Godfather flicks. I saw about half of Apocalypse Now. I haven't seen Henry V with Laurence Olivier - that's one that I really would like to see.

I've never seen This Is Spinal Tap.

I saw the original Star Wars trilogy, but haven't seen any of the prequels.

Lots of catching up to do.

Goodfellas - Excellent movie. I'm guessing you've seen all the other Scorcese movies.
Tigerland isn't bad, but Full metal jacker is better..both dealing with the same subject.
The original True Grit is brilliant and altough Jeff Bridges comes close, he can't touch the Duke's portrayal of Rooster Cogburn.
Best movie i've never seen...i'd say American Psycho. Haven't seen Kurosawa's hidden fortress either.

I'm a bit of a movie geek myself. I still haven't seen Citizen Kane, The Godfather trilogy, Chinatown, Dr Strangelove
Havent' seen any Fellini or Ingmar Bergman films either yet - a sin for a movie geek I know :-[
Something else just always seems to get preference.

@Singe: probably best avoid Requiem For A Dream then yes. It's a good peice of cinema but harrowing. And will probably ruin your whole week ?
Aronofsky btw will be directing the Wolverine sequel...which should be pretty cool (seeing as the 1st one was utter crap)

@Mika: if you love b-grade stuff, you gotta see Garth Marenghi's Dark Place. Not a movie though, it's a cult British TV-series, that spoofs
80's sci-fi. Very funny stuff. I love trashy retro sci-fi, Barbarella, The 80's Flash Gordon movie (really funny) and got the whole Buck Rogers (late70's/80's tv show) series on dvd,

@Bob: This Is Spinal Tap is mandatory viewing!! Especially for people on this forum... that's the movie that started the whole mockumentary/fake documentary film format
used and made popular later on by shows such as The Office, Summer Heights High, et al. Very very funny movie.

I loved Full Metal Jacket, but also Thin Red Line, different but still very good, plus Jared Leto dies in like the first fight scene ?

John Wayne is rooster cogburn to me, I saw that movie so young, thus reseulting in them being the same person...

I work as well, but I have mornings free, and I sleep from 12pm to 6am, so I have time on my hands..... I am off now to rent the Che Film with Benicio Del Turo

Full Metal Jacket is definitely one of the best war movies ever made. Low on sentimentalism and very psychological.
If you like westerns watch Dead Man , by indie director Jim Jarmusch. Nice twist on the genre

American Psycho is an okay film. Christian Bale's performance is great. Read the book though! Book is way better.
Nothing that special about the cine work on the movie. It's the story that makes it great. It's a hectic, but very well written book. Brett Easton Ellis is one of my fave authors
