Before we go any further let's get one thing straight. This project is untouchably cool. Why? Because Bootsy Collins was involved.
Now I don't have any sound bites, youtube clips or CDs available, but just let this run around your brain for a while. There is bound to be an asplosian or two.
The GrooveGrass Boyz were a collaborative project involving Del McCoury, Doc Watson, Jerry Douglas and Bootsy Collins. They combined to form a country/funk fusion outfit and had a minor hit with a cover of "Macarena".

Reminds me conceptually of Hayseed Dixie, the bluegrass band that does covers of hard rock anthems.

In a slightly less extreme of genre bending, tonight I (and the rest of the punters at TJs) were treated to a bluegrass rendition of Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls".
The mandolin solo was particularly tasty.
