That way, you can tell the retail shop you can get it cheaper!
If they bring their price down, great, if they dont, well, you know where to shop ?
Keep in mind, the retail shops always have these "discounts" (when they should just have a set freakin price imo), so they will come down in their prices.
For instance, im waiting on some guitar strings, which would cost the same from the states...
Its R100 a set "retail", but cash price, its R75. Why the hell cant it just be R75 from the outset?!
