Nothing to do with any kind of music. It was down to good friends and your own choices and strength.

If you want to give HM the credit for every kid that listens to it and doesn't go off the rails then you've got to give it the blame every time some kid that does listen to it goes to school with a sword and kills his class mates.

I give it the credit for me ...not every kid. it certainly gave me an outlet (safe) for my emotions. the great jimi once said music is a safe kinda high. i guess there a balance somewhere but HM rooted me ..difficult to explain and i probably dont make much sense. there are certain individuals that will understand what i am saying thouhg but prably not able to define it.

I certainnly am not saying one genre of music is better than another cept HM is better than bieber ?

that kid and his classmates ....prolly was unbalanced a tad an slipknot pushed him over the edge ...thats possible i guess

Agreed, Norman - I think Hammeron may want to go back and reconsider the broader implications (and ridiculous assumptions about metal's special powers) of that statement.

I think one must never underestimate the power of music..if one looks at the ancients and how music was used to go into trances be it for worship or before battle or whatever the need was. for more modern perspective look at the power of classical music over alex. (ok ok sorry)

point is music is a powerful medium and has a powerful influence over our thoughts an thinking patterns .... combine this with a fragile mind and its explosive ....jsut ask charlie

I agree with this statement, music doesn't MAKE you anything other than what you are, it can only provoke emotions that is allready there.
It was just easy to blame it on the music: "oh no, I'm not a sick tormented person, I just started listening to Slipknot and they sat on my shoulder telling me to do it, put me in rehab where I can have milk and cookies for free....."

Music in those practises was used to generate a progressive rythm where apon the people trying to enter a trans would dance to the rythm of it, the music was just a tool in that matter, if you stomp your feet really fast and spin around like crazy you'll get pretty high (and sick) got something to do with pressure points in your feet and bloodflow and some more things with your eyes and what not, didn't look that deep in to it, its easier to buy R4 crack ? ?

The parents of the kid that commited suicide while allegedly listening to an Ozzy song {Which happened to have an anti suicide lyric by the way} blamed Ozzy Osbourne.
There was a similar case with Judas Priest.
Damn, even Manson blamed the Beatles for his twisted mind.
If all of the songs implicated above were instrumentals, would they have spurned the resulting insanity, or was it the lyrical content, or the misunderstanding of the lyrical content that was to blame?

i like curry ... bunny chows is god's food to us mortals..had a beef bunny for lunch btw.....an i also like judas priest and hope to catch em on their final tour in the uk later his year.

music can never take a sane rational human being an turn him into a killer but music can push fragile minds over the edge.... music does give us stregnth an ability to achieve things...music is a primal force and the power thereof should not be underestimated.

imho (an slightly off topic) if you took a sane rational man and forced him to listne to a genre of music for long enough i suspect you could actually get him to do things you want him to do...but then its a forced situation and not real life.
