PRS. I keep reiterating this, but it bears reiterating. I saw the latest batch of Epiphone Les Pauls, and they looked like absolute rubbish. They looked poor and cheap. They vary the production of those things from factory to factory. They've been good and bad in the past. These ones are bad.

The PRSs on the other hand have maintained amazing quality control for budget guitars (if the one you're talking about is part of their SE line). They're built like guitars that go for twice the price. PRS SE and current Epi LPs are night and day in terms of quality. The Epi dots looked better made though.

But the 25th anniversary custom 24 is naaais.

The PRS... it's not even a something to think about.

Or have Ephiphone done something special in the last year that I have missed out completely?

PRS SE's are on par with Epiphones IMO. (Price wise... PRS wins on quality even there)
PRS Custom 24? Probably better quality than the Gibson LP Custom... IMO of course... and yes I own a Gibson, so don't argue with me. ?

+1 Yes, the 25 Anniversary Custom is one of THOSE!!!

You dont get much better for your money than a PRS Custom 22/24

Either way, I'd still pick that over the Epiphone.

//Edit: Actually, I will pick ANY PRS over an Epiphone.

I own a PRS SE Custom 24 25th Anniversary edition. I really like it, it plays fantastic and sounds great.

But what if hes looking at getting secondhand guitars? In which case he may get an older, better quality Epi than the current batch...Just to be sure all angles are covered, I have played and heard neither so I cant comment ?
