Does anyone else see the connection with music piracy?
I think that's a separate issue. Because here there's the element of deceit and self-agrandisement missing from music piracy, and there's the element of the con and making someone pay a lot of money for a totally inferior product. So while it's similar to passing off pirated music for sale as the original item, that's not what we've been talking about on the forum.
So we can't say it's similar to piracy, or arson, or not paying your tv license. While those are all legitimate ethical, moral debates, they don't have much to say about this situation.
