Arjun, thanks for sharing that, man, what a night!
Saw Morse with Purple at the Dome, got some footage of him 'violining' man what a slinger!
Have you seen the 'Deep Purple in concert with the London symphony' 1999?
Pleasure ? The things he can do with a guitar are truly out of this world. Although he can tear up a fretboard, what i love about him is that he puts taste, timing and note choice way ahead of anything else. Haven't seen the London Symphony orchestra ☹ but i have seen the Live In Australia (forget whether it was Perth or Sydney) and the intro solo to that concert just kills me every time i hear it.
Coming back to the OP about underrated guitar players, i watched Phil Collins Live & Loose in Paris a few days ago and Simply Red's Home (live in Sicily) earlier today. Struck me that Kenji Suzuki and Daryl Streumer are both very underrated guitar players.
These days i've been flipping out on guys who can really play a great rhythm part. I might get lynched for this but Steve Miller's Bingo is so good.
