(having ignored the obvious Jimi/Jimmy trolling thusfar)
It's not trolling...I just genuinely don't see the big whoop...This is another reason I think he's overrated, just because someone else doesn't like him it must be an
obvious troll. I think it's sorta annoying that he's held up as this holy figure that noone can criticise or dislike, I suppose in many ways I must be what's considered the equivalent to an atheist in the guitaring community then.

how can someone who has written and played some of the most iconic solos in metal be overrated? Explain why he is overrated... or do you just not like him? (I'm not a huge Metallica fan btw)
His technique is sloppy as hell, reminds me of Jimmy Paige in that respect. He's got really boring phrasing, in fact often it's so pentatonic that I'm not really sure if I'm listening to the same song again. He went through a period where ever solo had to be drenched in wah, I wanted to strangle him. He may have played a whole bunch of famous songs, but that doesn't mean that people have to like him. We're talking about people who are overrated to you, this is all opinion, there is no right or wrong. If people think Hammet is overrated and can bring up valid reasons against them, with regard to things that people are always putting forward as a strength, then there is merit.
Also in every interview I've ever seen Hammet comes across as a major
fag pansy...And some kind of monster is the
gayest most feminine thing I've ever seen a metal band pull.
