I don't really agree with you there, they don't have to have a name for you to learn their characteristics. Is it not possible that the bond we share with our instruments can transcend that kind of thing?

I tried the name calling thing with my guitars, but something inside me just said that would be taking it to a level of limp wristedness that I'm just not okay with ?

Never bothered naming my guitars, myself. Closest I get is "my acoustic", "my strat", "my epi".

Sometimes they are collectively called "those @#$#! things".
