Having worked on Norman's Fender Strat - 'Caliopa', I was wondering how many other GFSA'ers actually have names for their guitars?
I'm sure everyone has heard of Eric Clapton's 'Blackie', BB King's 'Lucille', SRV's 'Wives', EVH's 'Frankenstein'.....
I for one have names for most of my guitars, my Lake Placid Blue Strat (now sold) was called 'Blueberry muffin',,, my black Strat 'Black Liquorice', my black PRS Santana SE 'Kat von D' and my blue PRS Santana SE 'Melody' (my daughter's name)...,,,
SO,,,
do you have a name for your guitar??

My old Bass and Guitar had names, named them after female friends I had (at the time) in High school
New Bass/Acoustic/Electric need names haha
Acoustic I think will be called Beth or Tina
Precision / Telecasters TBA :3

I used to name them - I had a Flo, a Gavin, a Luther, a Pablo - but now I've gone off the idea. I have "The '72" and "The Foto Flame".

Think we've had this one before ......... I am not into giving my guitars names, they are my "white Strat", "Candy Strat" " Black LP Custom", or just my "Vai Ibby" or "Satch Ibby" etc...... I am trying hard to remember my childrens' names (just kidding), not goona confuse myself any further with the dogs, cats, guitars.....etc etc etc. ?

I refer to mine as "the Morgan", "the Larrivee" and "the Cort". I may occasionally refer to the latter as "the Mongrelcaster".
I don't give inanimate objects names and I think that unless you specifically need to differentiate between rare examples of the same thing there's no reason to.
Even then I would hope that the name is something like "the Ratcliffe Stradivarius" rather than "Bella Maria" or something personal.
Guitars are inanimate objects. They don't get names and they don't have moods (I do, my dogs do, but guitars don't). I also don't go for the tree of life up the fingerboard, and if anything unfortunate happens to one of my guitars I will not be happy about it but I also won't hold a wake or feel like a loved one got murdered.

um, so you are saying that your crocs are not inanimate objects? ???
oh yeah I heard you talking to them.... :-[

My guitars are evil machines from the future sent to obliterate mankind, not pet rabbits. I could no more give them names than you'd pet-name a Cyberdyne Systems Model 101.

It used to be 'noodlecaster' due to its spurious eastern origin, now its 'SETI' due to its noisy kuck pickups.

LOL....... all my guitars are "my babes" ....... more a term of endearment rather than a "name" .... but that's cool too!! ?

No, but it does travel from planet to planet destroying civilization where it finds any. Last time I recorded a couple of notes, I got eight hours of static.
