I like it a lot. The melody is great, catchy and sounds very authentically "latin". ? I like the double-stops Leticia is playing too, they sound great.
One thing that you could maybe embellish a bit: the lead lines sound like they're played only in quarter and eighth notes throughout the piece. This is perfect for the most part, but some nifty little faster runs wouldn't be out of place, maybe adding a slightly improvised feel - a little latin shred ?. Maybe after the part where Leticia plays the lower note, bassier version of the melody? Or just before it?
But it's a very cool piece of music nonetheless. Good sense of drama, and some nice changes to the basic theme to keep it interesting, and a solid melody hook which I'm still humming in my head. ?
Oh and Conrad, the flamenco-style rhythm is awesome stuff. :applause:
Thanks Warren. Yes that is not a bad idea at all. I will look into it. Tish has only been playing for a little over a year now but she has damn dexterous little fingers so she should be able to work in a fast run that still compliments the melody. Thanks again for the input.
I have to call it Latin LOL Even though this rhythm falls in a small subset of Rhumba flamenco, the Americans and some Spaniards go on a which hunt if you call it flamenco since this "Palo"does not encompass the essence of flamenco which they are more likely to see as the traditional Bulerias rhythms etc... When I write more traditional stuff, I will be more comfortable in calling it flamenco.
