I think most musicians are ? I recently watched a movie called Serbian Film with two of my closest friends (both musicians - Bassist & Guitarist) and we laughed the entire way through the movie...It's meant to be one of the most twisted movies out at the moment and has been banned in tons of countries, and we thought it was the funniest thing we've seen in about 3 years ? Musicians minds aren't wired normally, and this is a good thing.
Well, I haven't seen it but the raping of newborns, raping of drugged family members, raping raping raping sounds a bit much to me. There's 3 reasons why it's not my cup of tea:
1. Doesn't have much to say other than what the director "says" it's about after the fact. This is the biuggest charge levelled at it. If I can't tell the movie is about the repression of Serbian people by the government by watching it, then what you see on screen is all there is. I own Clockwork Orange, have seen Cannibal Holocaust twice not to mention all sorts of other stuff... but there is at least an easily read messages there.
2. When you have been around the block a bit and have had to deal with people that have been through or perpetrate this kind of stuff it's a lot more sinister when you see it on screen. (If you have kids, tolerance also drops).
3. Hmmm... can't remember the third.
Maybe you were laughing because of Serbian production values but I doubt the director intended it to be funny.
In short, don't lump all musos into the same basket.
Edit: I thought the Rammstein video was pretty good actually, consenting adults and all.
