UPDATE:
Shes done.... ? 8)
So, i dont have all the before photo's, When i get them, i'll add them in too!
BEFORE:
DURING:
AND NOW:
There was quite a bit of work done, though most of it isnt really visible.
I can tell you though, it looks and feels, and even smells brand spanking new.
The obvious changes are the pearloid pick guard and the F style neck plate!
Not taking all the rusty or stripped screw into account, the inside was in a sorry state.
Enough to make guitar lovers cry! Maybe he did, coz if i was there, i probably would have had i have seen it in real life!
But he done a fantastic job of sorting my electronics out, shielding the pick guard and cavity
(*more on this at the end of the post*),
servicing the pots and machine heads, and cleaning the neck and rest of the guitar up.
I am SO glad i know i left my guitar in Costa's most capable and experienced hands!
So much so, that even for something as simple as a string change, which i could probable do myself, wherever possible, i will support him and get him to do it, because i know how he goes out of his way to make sure everything is in better than factory condition!
Something that sets him apart in the service field!
Costa has again outdone himself, and given my strat new life!
Thank you SO VERY MUCH! Words cannot express! Seriously! Now if only i could play as well as you ?
Still to add:
Pics of the neck, and of the surgery itself...
And maybe Costa will say a bit about what he done!
SHIELDING THE PICK UP CAVITY AND PICK GUARD:
I Spoke to Costa about the pickups being very microphonic, and about the strat hum being especially bad.
Now, he redone the wiring, shortened the earth wire and made sure all the soldering was correct, as it wasnt.
When the pics are up, you will see what i mean.
This is where it gets interesting though...
We played on both his ibanez ss amp, and his mesa boogie tube amp...
The hum was still apparent on the ibanez and the pickups were still slightly microphonic, and we were sitting about 1.5 meters from the amp.
Playing on the mesa, things were DRAMATICALLY different.
NO HUM. NO MICROPHONICS. and we were not even half a meter from the amp, with the amp turned high, with distortion even.
I tried it on my cube... I still have slight hum, and still have slight microphonics, albeit not as bad as it was.
However, i am convinced that i need a tube amp! Especially after simply switching amps revealed exactly that the work done to the strat wasnt in vain!
