Not completly true, you get good recordings without lots of studio time, or studio tricks..... I find some of my favourite recordings are the ones that were made for nothing...... its mostly about quality of material and the way it relates to a specific market.....
listen to how bad this recording is, and then at the same time pitchfork gave it 9/10 the guy headlined primevera sound, he toured the world and is on his 3rd album right now, no nice recording nessacary
