Stepping up my home rig

Hey guys I want to upgrade my home rig. Lookin for a decent cheapish usb xlr interface and something like a SM57. Currently looking at the M Audio, but apprehensive of usb 1.1. There's also the presonus cheapie mobile unit. Basically I want something compact and under $200 that sounds goood. Mic wise, I am clueless, just thinking I want something other than the generic. Very nice little unit.

I found one online at a very reasonable price, does anyone here have one? It looks like a very straight forward device. For me I only really want to get rid of the noise when I plug my amp into my PC. Think it's worth grabbing one?

I was looking at the bigger Saffires the other day and was quite surprised by how well priced they all were. Considering getting a Liquid Saffire 56...

The Liquid Saffire is GREAT, and affordable. Go for it.

Those instrument/mic combination inputs, they say it's "Neutrik XLR/¼” TRS Jack Combo" ...um, do they look a bit strange, obviously I'm missing something :-[

Those are exactly what they say - both XLR and jack sockets in one. Good way to get both XLR and jack sockets in a limited space.

Ah, okay, I took a closer look, I see now where the xlr pins go ? thanks

I'm using the M-Audio fast track pro. Very good for the purpose. awesome with reaper

Got my hands on a Focusrite 2i2 for R1600 at Soundworks. Edging to get going on Saturday morning ?

Really impressed with the Focusrite 2i2 and Reaper!
What a pleasure. I had to work out some kinks,
mostly my own lacking expertise around some
hardware (wiring) But it was a good trial day.
Albeton Live with the Focusrite is rubbish. Couldn't
for the life of me figure out how to select a new track and arm it. Along with the fact it took nearly
an hour to install.
Reaper was painless and easy to get started with a
recording.
Had 2 guitars jacked in directly to the Focusrite and
playing along simultaneously. No issues. Looking forward to learning more and getting
better recordings down.
Definetely investing in a license for Reaper.
