Bob-Dubery See the display at the sound desk This is at the station where the FOH guy is working. Is this for by-law compliance? It was an indoor gig (I'm guessing 500 - 750 seats) in Paris. And is that loud?
IceCreamMan depends where the desk was and if measured at the desk. if the desk was at the back as is common practice then 105 is huge .... euro has strict laws around working in a noisy area ...sound guy is working so i spose it could be legislative but i suspect its more for informational use in this case. i was at motorihead concert in the uk where it was a contest between motorhead an saxon to see who could play loudest .,,, i think they were measured at 138 or something like that ....thats ear splitting. an aunt of mine burst an eardrum at a nazareth concert in the 70's propped up on speed against the audio system ....
Tonedef Did a quick google. The SPL produced by a timpanum (or orchestral bass drum to those (me) who don't know what it is) moered at full whack is roundabout 105dB. So it's equivalent to having your head next to a timpanum being moered with Mjolnir. Not my idea of easy list'nin' ? Maybe the level in the pic is a bit of showboating/system testing?
Bob-Dubery Tonedef wrote Maybe the level in the pic is a bit of showboating/system testing? No. That photo was taken by a friend of mine during an actual gig at which he was present.
Tonedef Maybe the sound guy is deaf as a brick by now and needs some visual ques? ? I notice theres a second number of 106, maybe this is the max reading up to that point? That would seem to lend some credence to the legal aspects theory.
Warren Tonedef wrote Wots DotA? ??? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defense_of_the_Ancients Mjollnir is one of the in-game items ? These days people mostly play League of Legends or Heroes of Newerth, both based on DotA. Apologies for the thread-jack Bob. </tangent.>
