What's your opinion on Cort electrics? ???

For hi-gain type stuff, the tone of a guitar doesn't really matter. For clean to mildly dirty, you'd be aiming for something that sounds better. So as long as you like the shape/colour and pickups, rock it ? For the money, you probably won't beat em

Ja. Pretty good for the money, sometimes surprisingly so. Depending on the style you're playing you may want to hotrod the pickups a little, but generally they offer good value for money and are good enough that spending a bit on upgrades is not just a case of putting lipstick on a pig.

As usual there's a range. Get a high end one and swap out the electronics and I'm sure you'll have a guitar that can compete with just about anything out there.

I've got two, a G254 and a X5 as "backup', "practice" guitars... They're great imo and it's ridiculous how inexpensive they where. I'll be upgrading the X5's pups with one of my j-customs dimarzio's shortly. That's how much I like them...

I played one of those stoopid 'evohl' Corts, a sevenstring (obviously), the ones with the pentagrams.. ugly thing but damn it knocked me out. Played extremely well. Sounded great too, had the EMG HZ pickups. Really wow for the price.

I didn't get along with that 7-string at all, I thought it was honestly the worst I've ever played. I mean a Les Paul style 7-string? huh?? But I have heard tons of people raving about it, so maybe the problem is me... ? This year though they're releasing a KX series 7 string with a 27" scale, this made me slightly happy ?

Yah that was it exactly, the LP shape one. I don't know, I just found I could zip around from riff to sweep all over the neck as it it were a MUCH more expensive guitar.

You like 27" eh. I don't know, never gelled with my Stephen Carpenter sig LTD. Fantastically sexy guitar (the wood finish one) and fantastic for metal rhythm. (There's a green one at drumcityguitarland, very GAS worthy.)

Maybe it was the small frets, not the scale. My PRS SE also has low profile frets, not my kinda deal.

I'm pretty much in love with 27" - a set of .010 gauge strings on that scale in standard is like the perfect tension to me ? and my hands just feel more comfortable with the wider fret spacing, it's slightly more challenging to play on in it's own way but it just feels somehow like the guitar is finally fighting back just enough without being too tight. Also the frets on that RG are jumbo ? I would also be really keen to try a fan fret with a multiscale of say 30" to 26,5" if 8 string or 27" to 25,5" for 7 string ?

This year Ovation released a baritone acoustic and it's got a 28" scale, so I'm really excited about getting one of those in and giving that a try ? I'll probably end up buying a second acoustic just because of it... :?
