Does anybody know this song?

So we were sitting in the cinema a while back and while we were waiting for the ads and trailers to start we enjoyed some nice background music (Cinema Nouveau ftw!)

I really liked the music but had no idea who was singing so I yanked out my phone and recorded a snippet in the hopes that I'd be able to google the lyrics and find out. Problem is, I can't make out enough lyrics to be of any help. So would anyone around here know the artist or the song by any chance?

Its nice. I just wish I could hear at least one sentence clearly. If you can and you haven't tried this - you take the sentence and google it. I found that Brandi Carlile song 'The Story' like that. I heard it on an ad that's on TV at the moment - insurance - 'The story'.

Could only make out the words "talk show", so I Googled that and came up with Radio Head - it's not their number. The Radio Head number is great though. 8)

I heard something about a "mighty throne" "followed me around, picked me up" but google didn't return anything except a few rap songs :\

Haha, I have not picked up any of the phrases you guys have. Only words I *think* I could make out were "turn around" "back together again" but that didn't really help. Fortunately Mrs. Keen-eared Wifey lent me her ears and picked up on "what a potion he would brew" and "I don't know what to do" which, fed to Google, spat out "That Ole Devil Called Love" by Billie Holiday.

Look for it on Youtube and Bob's your uncle.

Only problem is, this is the original version and not the one I had heard which was much more of a jazz expression. So the search continues but at least I now know the song.

Good suggestion XRBob but it was in early January and I can't imagine that they'd know what they played so long ago. But it's worth a shot. I'll give it a try.

Think you're going to battle to find this one. it sounds kind of underground or alternative? I found Alison Moyet doing a cover but haven't got time now to get it etc and don't think it's her. I love this unproduced sounding music. Its so fresh, no matter what genre. That Billie Holliday was also pretty amazing.

Does it matter which version you go for? I've found three - Billy Holiday, Alison Moyet and Hayley Evetts. The arrangements don't vary much, the key differences seem to be the vocals. Alison Moyet is a fab singer and her version is pretty good.

I think you're right, it's going to be pretty tricky to find this one. It's definitely not Alison Moyet and yes, the Billie Holiday recording is pretty nice. I would like to get my hands on this particular recording though.

Bob, while Holiday and Moyet are enjoyable, I particularly enjoyed this one recording. It was a more modern style of jazz but not too progressive (which I generally don't enjoy). There were more songs on the the evening than this one and they were also good so I'd like to see if I can get my hands on the CD.

BTW, I also found a recording by Chet Baker with a trumpet rendition of the song. Very nice!

I know how frustrating it is to have a version of something stuck in your head. I walked around for months with the OOMPH!! version of The Power of Love stuck in my head.
