? congrats mika........ and nice marketing campaign hope these short films are hitting every internet based music marketing site and getting emailed to fans............
BUT for free dude??? this is your art , put a value on it ......... oh i know just how passionate you are about your project by reading your posts and i respect that , and thats more the resason why you should sell it ,
this twisted f^&ked up world we live in puts a financial price on everything and subconsiously relates it to the value of the product .... sure give a way a few at shows as "special prizes" and to promoters and venues....... and maybe do a few free concerts..... i'm sure if Gibson or fender were giving away their guitar ...people would eventually think they must be inferiour........ ? why else would they be free ....... everything that the public values has a high price tag ......... be it designed clothes/custom guitars/cars ect ecte and that mindset or consumer phsycology is a reality
don't forget cd is a passive form of income. and the proof is i recorded a cd i never thought would sell ( a quick live take in a studio, no edits) and it has sold very well at gigs for R100 /cd and people who come to gigs always ask "do you have a cd" and they don't expect it for free....... and of course i have not made millions but i have consistantly sold to recoup the cost of the recording (within a month) and it's an ongoing source of income...and selling at a show extra makes a surpisingly big difference to a pro muso's take home pay ..... and yes i was surprised that my acoustic world music would sell since it also original but far more obscure than a rock/alternate band ...... so don't underestimate the "return" a cd can have ........even if you only selling it at gigs ect

I really like the whole marketing approach with the teaser stuff (note teaser and not Teazers) ?.... I'm looking forward to the launch and I think Mike's band will make a huge impact on the SA music scene,, watch this space... and well done on doing your own video editing. I love the music I just feel a certain way about music these days... and at this point I would rather just let it be in the world..... Free or not.... I have more important things to worry about.
Such as the next set of stuff I want to record...
This Album for me, is dont and behind me, I only listen to it when i must edit the videos for it ? otherwise I have better songs to write....
But best thing you can do if you dont pay for it is just pass it around to people and tell them about it... a bit of a romantic idea I know ?
@ Costa .. thanks for the kind words ? my editing still requires much work to actually be decent, but its a fun thing to do..... a better camera wold be awsome but we shall see........ mayeb a canon 7D...... ooooh
