Guitar World Online Store Fail

G-Man

Hi guys

I'm having some issues with a book I ordered from their online store in september, it still hasn't arrived yet and all my correspondence with them (Guitar World) leads me to believe that its a custom issue.

Their 'fulfillment department' has sent out 3 copies of my tab book with tracking numbers and they all end up in arb places (Mechanicsburg PA for one lol). I'm mailing them again tonight to see what's up but I'm starting to believe that I will never get it at this rate.

Have you guys had any experience with Guitar World's online store?

Who is it being shippied by? USPS?
If so, there tracking sucks, it isnt tracking.

When i had parts shipped to me from parts is parts, i used USPS and yes, it arrived, but the tracking was non existent! my package also went through Switzerland! from the states! that to me doesnt make sense! but hey...

It is more than likely SA customs... Try getting hold of them (SA Customs) and giving them the tracking number, they have to be able to tell you if its in the country and where it is!

the thing going through Europe actually does make sense since there are no direct flights USA-SA because of the distance. There just are more flight to Europe than elsewhere.

i have a pilot friend, flies to new york every month, direct from JHB international. ?

Gearhead

no few flights
better?

Norman86

jip! Couriers COULD send direct if they wanted to...
Would save a lot of time and hassle!

No freight flights is, I think, the case. Jo'burg - New York is a passenger flight. The courier services usually charter whole flights that carry nothing but freight.

Yep, USPS is the service. Do you perhaps know how I can contact Customs SA? (Going to google in the mean time) How long did your package take to arrive Norman? Mine was originally ordered in September :/

I dont unfortunately... But i think StephenG might know how to get hold of customs...
He gave Conrad advice in an earlier thread about customs duties, maybe he has a better idea!

My package took over a month, i think 6 weeks!
And USPS showed that my package never left the states... in the meantime, it wasnt in the states for the longest time!
as i say, there tracking sucks!

G-Man

I googled the number for imports and after calling the office was given another number for imports. Doesn't look like my package made it to SA. So Guitar World are refunding me, guess I'll have to make another plan then.

Norman86

That sucks! What book is it? Can you not get it through take2 usa?
what about kalahari.net and loot.co.za?

its not actually Customs that u must check with, its the post office.. central mail / sorting have customs officals working for them , but technically its the post office.... so you must check with central mail at the post office.

hey thats crazy my guitar took 11 days UPS - SAPO - my front door.....

They refunded my money tonight on paypal, then I accidently refunded them..what a plonker I am. Really sums up my whole experience thus far ?

Thanks for the clarification, maybe I should phone them anyway, what a bonus if they had all 3 copies and I get a refund! ?

Rub it in why don't ya ? It's just my luck, something told me not to do it inside my head but did I listen?

Quote your "tracking" number ?

Thanks ?

But sadly , no luck. According to the learned call agent that I had the pleasure of speaking with, it is IMPOSSIBLE that my tracking number starts with "LM" as it clearly should start with "LN". They even searched against my name and surname, nada. So I'm bummed, and obviously wont risk ordering from them again. My money will be refunded back into my paypal account , but then I can't refund it back into my credit card. Grrrr.

Guess I'll have to carry on editing guitar pro tabs, which might actually be good for my playing in the long run anyway.

Can I have some cheese with my whine?

Norman86

damn dude... that just bites...

Is there no way they can resend it with UPS or fedex maybe?
The problem clearly lies with the courier service!

G-Man

I could try that, maybe I'll mail them again and see how much extra it will cost. Good idea ?

Norman86

it might be 5 or 10 dollars more... but, at least you should get your book!

then again, i cant say i had bad service with USPS myself, and i have had quite a few things shipped through them in the past!
but i will try UPS next time myself! their tracking is better than USPS!
