What string gauge are you using? If you're tuning to E then what is considered the minimum is normally about .80 gauge, the only locally available brand of guitar string that makes strings that thick are Daddario - The other brands make bass strings in those thicknesses but that is pretty much useless to you, you need a guitar string (I made the mistake of putting a bass string on - sounded like ass).
I hate to sound like a bit of a toss bag here, but you have the RGA8 and I've gotta be honest when I say that I've played on them and I thought that their pickups were pretty much just a complete joke, just far too muddy for a guitar with that kinda range. Fear not though because as of March Dimarzio will be selling 8 string passive pickups :woohoo:
