Nice call dude, for effects I do think the GT-10 has a lot more going for it. As for the amp sims, I prefer them...They take a little more tweaking but all in all I've found I prefer the response and dynamic that the GT delivers to the Line 6. With the amp sims I think BOSS didn't do a bad job, they just didn't focus in on trying to be as anal. They're more sorta ball park, but in someways I find they're more sculptable than the POD. Also if the sims don't do it for you in recording you can try impulse recabbing ?
The USB etc comes in pretty handy as well ?
