From what I've read the POD HD500 is limited in the amount of effects you can run...I remember considering this a big enough issue to me to not want one. Then again I've never really been a fan of Line 6s Modelled tones.
I say just save up and when you have like R7k together then look at what's on the market. Honestly with Line 6 having just released their new POD I'm sure all the other regulars like Digitech, BOSS and Korg will follow suit shortly and quite possibly with better results ? After all they can adapt their new products to meet the needs that people will have when they no doubt find things to complain about with the POD.
Check out what I'm using on this patch and I haven't reached the DSP limit yet...using dual amp models, a Dual Rectifier and a DrZ Route 66 on the same patch.
The expression pedal 1 is a wah, and expression pedal 2 controls the volume of the dual rectifier, in other words I can add as much of the Mesa into the mix as I want...it sounds pretty amazing when you add a touch of a Dual Rectifier to a DrZ Route 66, in stereo.
The chain is.
Wah > MXR Dyna Compressor (Red Comp) > Boss CE1 (Analog Chorus) > TS9 Tube Screamer (Screamer) > signal splits > Digital Delay in front of the Mesa (Treadplate) > DrZ Route 66 > Ping Pong Delay.
I'm not a Line 6 fanboy, but these HD modellers are way better than anything they've previously released.
