So yesterday i am at store and buy a couple of odds an ends and throw in the guitarist magazine as well...yeah i realised at 160 its a shed load of cash for a 5.50 quid magazine but i was feeling extravagant....
started reading it last night and this morning ,looked at that cd included ,messed around with some stuff an decided dayum its an awesome magazine .....just how do we get around 160 ronmt price tag .... :-\

reedeeculous..... ?
There's a magazine shop in Rosebank that sells these mags between R50 & R70, granted they may be older editions, but they're still sealed and most have CD's. so hey if you were planning to spend R160,,, buy two or three mags from there instead...

My favourite guitar mag by far. I also subscribe direct - it's by far the cheapest option.
They use someone locally for delivery too - they ship them all to SA in a batch and then they are popped in the local postal system by the local guys. In six years of subscriptions, I have never had one go missing.

I used to subscribe to an American Motocross mag.
It was less than half price and arrived in my postbox at about the same time the previous issue was just getting onto the shelves at the newsagents.

I was considering an exciting life of crime and lifting em instead ? (ok ok dont follow my lead kids )
i like the idea of subscribing and thats what i will do ...works out to about 85 ront a magazine which i think is way more realistic price and one which i would happily pay .....
really is a great mag considering that it would have probably a month's "shelf life" in my home .... an as i complete the one the next will be there. excellent demo's . reviews and exercises ..... i read and learn rather slowly.
my sister in law on the plane from blightyas i type this and she got me the latest edition from there so sorted for the next while now. ?
Thanks all
PS where that store in rosebank?

If you come out of The Zone and turn left towards the parking theres another entrance on your left and I think its called Magz or something,,,, sorry for the feable directions,,,its Monday morning :-\ :-[ ?

I used to love reading Guitarist Uk. Until I couldn't find it at my local CNA anymore...
I considered subscribing, but then found I could read most of the reviews via www.musicradar.com
Thus I haven't bothered to subscribe as yet. You don't get all of the cool features from the mag and of course no CD, but the reviews are the same and as entertaining and informative as ever and they do occasionally include video reviews and some sound demos. Plus you also get some of the reviews from Future Music which I like to read as well.

Guitar Techniques is really great as well, not gear focused but a lot of fun exercises and the odd bit o' theory...

I find the guitarist mag just gives me a bad case of GAS.. It has too many gear reviews.. ?

This is my favourite magazine, I personally couldn't give a crap about who's dating who and who's endorsement has changed, heck I don't really care much for half the new stuff other mags review. I think the lessons I've gained from Guitar Techniques have been invaluable ?

+1;
Also the only mag I buy. Great articles which are diverse and challenging across lots of genres. The legato feature this month is great.

+1 I have a guitar techniques magazine from 2008 that im only going through now, but its got so much in it that i honestly think a years subscription would give me exercises to work on for the next 5 years!
Squonk
GT is good for all things technique ???
But Guitarist has a bit for everyone, great gear reviews, Interviews with Guitarists, I find these quite interesting as well, Album reviews. Also keeps you up to date with a lot of Gear.
guitarboy2828
Agreed Kalcium.. They like give you a new "rockclass" each month or whatever and I'm still on the first exercise of 4 when the new issue comes out :O
Kalcium
haha definitely, Im still on part 2 of the 50 rocks licks section, so i have 30+ to go...and then theres a few transcribed songs, and then all the lessons at the end of the book...I suppose the better you get the faster you will work through the exercises...but getting there...haha ?
