A couple of times with the GT-6 The GT- has only been dropped on a tiled floor from about table height 800mm, chipped the damn tiles >☹

so a question ......... what amp modeler would you consider the best at the moment and this means stand alone gig ready units only ...not pc studio software .(as we all know that it is potentially too risky to run a pc onstage unless it's gig proof ) does any one company have the jump on the others re modeling amps....... for live stage use ......

The Vox Tonelabs usually get my vote (good tone, easy to use and more than enough FX for most). I haven't seen the latest crop though - the new POD HDs or the new Tonelab EX.

I will admit that the Vox tonelab gives one of the best sounds but the Boss GT range is versatile in the the number and range of FXs and because it is solid state (no valves) it doesn't take much offence at being dropped, run over or kicked about a little.

I agree on the GT range. The Marshall modeller on the GT8 is incredible.

In regars to the video, I hear the differance.. yes its close but not the sound.... and htis is via computer speakers....... Plus whats cooler a vibroverb or a floor calculator?

My simplistic and naive view is that you like what you like, for whatever reason.
I've bought, sold & traded a few times.
From my limited experience so far, I prefer tubes ...

Forget it peeps, believe what you want to believe... You guys all go and buy modelers... Stay away from the world's stashes of NOS... Don't drive up the price of classic amps, forget about them... Leave the market to Mika and me, we'll buy all amps on the continent...

BTW that vibroverb simulator thing thang...... is not bad sounding, but I am sure it is noticable.... because when i watched/ listened to it I closed my eyes and did not see what he was using......

I am sure the modelers have there place, like if i was in a cover band and needed to go from JON JON BOVI, to Cher, to Robbie williams, to Blondie..... yes I would maybe get a modeler (assuming I am not to passionate about that music or band) and just programme it all up and earn easy money.

But for music I am passionate about and i love, and I want to mould to my preferances, I could not imagine using any less than tube, even more tube amps that i know well........ The nightmare of my amp breaking and having to use some foreign gear terrifies me every night...
