Agreed. Keef is a legend and all that, but that's not a great piece of playing.

My love will not make him a great player. I think he improved, and I think he ended up being a pretty good slide player, but honestly - how many great solos did he lay down with the Beatles? Paul did the solo on "Taxman" and that's one of the best bits of guitar playing on a Beatles record. Even John laid down a few solos (EG "Get Back")

That solo has actually grown on me. Bit ice picky tonewise, but I kinda like it 8)

Rabin's solo on Owner of a Lonely Heart from Yes' 90125.

I hate the tone and whole vibe of it [4:44], although - upon reflection - it probably works because it provides such a contrast to the clean bit that follows it at 5:15 (which I love). So maybe its a deliberate dynamic thing.

I've just listened to it again.. its actually pretty cool :-[ What do yu guys think?

yeh I'm also 50/50 on this one. Where it does pass the test IMO is that it's played well, whereas some of the other examples mentioned above are just ~~cr&p~~ very uninspiring guitar playing,,Heat of the moment takes the cake ?

I can't really think of any good songs with bad solos, I can think of tons of bad songs with good solos though...

Dream Theater's "Best Of Times" takes the cake in that category in my mind ?
