Swapped my Ibanez S 520EX for ....

Hey guys,

After much contemplation and soul-searching, i swapped my green Ibanez S520 for a 1999 Fujigen manufactured black Ibanez RG7620.
Specs: 24 frets, basswood body, Lo pro 7 and Dimarzios

Aww ☹ now that makes me feel like I gotta "contemplate" my own s520ex...
Any specific reason you swapped? (apart from the 22 frets, or the pickups.. those are pretty obvious downsides I think)

It was the 22 frets that was getting me down and i ended up getting an extra 2 frets, an extra string and DiMarzio 7s in the process. But its done incredible things for my playing as well, in terms of coming up with more ideas and the range without having to change positions too much.
But the S520 is by no means a run-of-the-mill instrument...i really loved mine, but swapped it because i felt i was getting a good deal.

Was the 2 extra frets woth it? Im also thinking about getting a guitar with 24 frets. I mean a shredder without 24 frets is like a pianter without a brush ?

Definitely worth it, but there are a lot of fanatstic guitar players out there who can do a lot with 22 frets. Ultimately, it boils down to personal preference, i'd say.

Completely agree with you there. ? However, i'm slowly discovering its non-metal voice.
