It is a little known fact that I can't stand HSS Stratocasters. I think it has something to do with the pup being suspended from the pickguard as opposed to mountings, like HB's usually are that makes it sound not-so-lekker to my ears.
Most of my strat work is clean so I like to make use of the single tone sound anyway. I took a Fender Hot Noiseless and transplanted it into my power strat.
I'll have a video uploaded tomorrow for those keen to hear the difference. She went from a HSS to a SSS, my beauty....
