Charlie4 Yesterday I had to update Adobe Flash Player and being wary of the terms and conditions (you never really know what you might agree to if you don't skim through it), I read a part about 3rd parties (Flash Player 10.1 p. 69 nr 7.3) It states that 3rd parties of Adobe are allowed to store information on your computer. My question is: - Are they conveniently using your hard drive to store whatever they feel like? - How big are the files normally? - Where are they located normally? - Can I erase those files without any problems? I'm part of the majority that don't really know what happens behind the IT screen so Any help would be appreciated. ?
Seventhson Well my whole collection(got the whole adobe collection like photoshop and so on)their patches are about 5 gigs ??? Not to sure how big it will be. They might be located in the same folder as the adobe one and yes you can just get rid of them with no problems ?
guitarboy2828 Surely that clause is referring to the information that is needed 1. to install adobe whatever and 2. to save whatever you are working on. I don't think it's their personal files they are storing on your computer, that would be a tad bizarre.
Bob-Dubery Some Adobe products include software licensed from other companies or pieces of GNU software. IIRC there's some Apple code in there somewhere. So they have that in their license in case somebody starts objecting that they never gave Apple permission to install any code on their computer.
Tonedef You'll probably find that the flash player itself only stores cookie-type information. No idea whether this is the case, though.
aja Charlie4 wrote being wary of the terms and conditions I read a part about 3rd parties What? People actually read that stuff? ???
G-Man I have a lawyer friend who says if he had a choice he wouldn't install any adobe software, didn't bother asking him why, and come to think of it I don't know how he watches anything on youtube either...I just shrugged and changed the subject. Guess I should have asked but I'm assuming it had something to do with the EULA, I do remember him saying something along the lines of how they were "sneaky bastards" though. lol
Seventhson MY friend is a lawyer(well nearly done his studies) And he is the biggest pirate I know ? 8) ???
FruitarGeek In my experience with Adobe, they are rather trustworthy, so I think its safe to install. The only (not really issue) issue I have with some Adobe products, like Adobe reader for example is once installed, it installs a plug-in that makes Adobe Speed Reader or some crap like that launch at startup with my computer even If I dont use it. Now that bothers me, cause it's an extra program running that is slowing down my PC, all I simply do is remove it from starting up using a program like Everest or whatever you can get your hands on. If Flash player does that then just trash what is starting up, although I think flash is the type of program needed to start up? ??? And btw, I also study law and can't believe you actually skim through the terms and agreements, hahahaha. That thing bores me at the word go
Warren Not just Adobe software with this sort of thing in the EULA. Some computer game EULAs will make your eyes water. ?

Charlie4 Funny thing is I never read the T&C's when installing a program but for some reason I didn't trust this one, so I skimmed through it and found the 3rd party clause (which I didn't like). aja wrote Best PDF rteaders by far IMHO: (and I read many many e-books and technical documents etc...)
