Velcro + double sided tape sucks !!!

+1. It even works if you're sticking it to a rubber surface like the bottom of some pedals.

I've taken to unscrewing the bottom plate off my pedals, tucking the velcro in either side and screwing the plate back on. No glue, no mess, it doesn't come loose and I can restore the pedal to how I bought it whenever I want.

For the pedals that don't have a bottom plate I just cut strips and make small holes in the velco, undo the screws underneath the pedal and push them through the velcro. Then screw the velcro on to the bottom of the pedal. This technique works better with a washer because sometimes the velcro can tear and the screw comes right through it if you move your pedals round on your board too much.

However JoeyBones, this may be a stupid question but have you tried the normal thick velcro with adhesive on it? Ive literally tried everything and this works best for me.

I've had the same problem...in fact I still do with a few pedals. My mistake was to use too large pieces of velcro. The stuff I got seems to be industrial strength. The velcro sheets stick so well to each other that it pulls off the glue. I finally realised that I don't need to cover the whole pedal base with velcro, a small square on each corner is enough.

I use contact adhesive to stick the hooked side of velcro to my pedals. Then I covered my entire board with a piece of carpet so no need for the other side of the velcro. Works a treat.

watch this space: I am in contact with a company that may provide a solution to all this mess. They just seem to be a bit slow on the administrative side of things...

I am wanting to try this, however, just wanted to find out, does it not eat away at the rubber? If I ever wanted to take the velcro off to sell the pedal, would the glue have ruined the pedal?

It'll be OK. Although you may well find that the new owner would want the velcro left on. If you've glued it to paint, the glue remnants usually just roll off when rubbed vigorously. If it was glued to a rubber bottom, it will bond with the rubber pretty securely and you will probably have to sand off the bottom of the rubber to remove the last of it.

I just use those small cable ties through small holes in the pedalboard. Works fine for me!

Go to a hardware store that has a curtain section, ask for the wide adhesive velcro and you sorted. All my pedals (including my wah) are held on with this and I carry mine like a suitcase (it doesnt have a top) and nothings ever fall off.
