AlanRatcliffe For those interested: My latest article (on guitar amp power and volume) is up: http://ratcliffe.co.za/articles/guitar_amp_power.shtml If I got anything wrong or left anything out, please feel free to comment.
Renesongs The valve amp also compresses the guitar ound quite a bit Good article as usual. I know how fussy you are about typo's this is one I found so far
Spyke Great introduction into amplification Alan. Well written. Kudo's my man. But yes, just the one little typo.
NorioDS Awesome article ? Coupla small typos but I gotta get lunch now. Maybe someone else will pick them up for you.
NorioDS The human ear hears doesn't hear changes in volume evenly There are just a few of things like this here and there but I'm no editor so just re-read it later and you should be able to spot and fix 'em ?
AlanRatcliffe Thanks guys! I must have made changes after spell checking. With a couple of hours sleep under my eyelids I picked up quite a few little things. I'll probably have to go through it again in a week or so to rewrite the awkward bits, but I'm not up to that now. At least no-one has come up with factual errors - which is always possible when I'm talking dBs, as I have some kind of mental block on the differences between the different types (don't try and explain it to me now - in my current state it's useless). I'm trying to get used to a new keyboard that has a small shift key on the left - I keep on hitting ctrl instead of shift and missing the first letter of a sentence. It also seems to need a more solid keypress, as it will often drop letters in the middle of a word too.
Attila good one Allan, someone once explained it to me as setting your amp up to give your the right "presence" for the room rather than annoying the neighbors with volume
