Good memories Costa

I have seen Cindy and Stewart Irving play a couple of times recently, completely impressed with their "keep it live, no backing track" attitude.
I saw them at a function where most of the crowd were in their 20's and 30's and had no clue of the music pedigree that was entertaining them.

I Remember Fantasy, Bite and Boss very well from the old Hillbrow Days ?

I dont know if anyone can remember a band called "Scandal", that had a guitarist called Josh Sklaar, not too sure of spelling or the band name. Saw them in Hillbrow in the 80's 8)

Read the other day that Dave Ornellas passed away. Sad, he was a great vocalist

I liked Hawk better BEFORE Julian joined, I think he changed their raw Afro sound ( but Julian is a brilliant guitarist, much better with Freedom's Children). I really liked Dave's deep voice...... (sad, his passing)...

Braam Malherbe for me was one of the best drummers to ever come out of SA.

Hey Peter, small world ?,,,, I dont know if you remember we were competing at the finals at the Battle of the Bands competition in Germiston ? all those years ago? and Cindy was one of the judges? You guys had a mean (and crazy bass guitarist),,, I think you guys may have won it?? Good memories,

Who can Remember Dickie Loader and the Blue Jeans. Saw them in Margate in the 60's at the Palm Grove.

some of the ex members of "lithium" started a new band, they are called "throatball" , it a punk/metal groovy type of vibe, and they are pretty good at it.

yes , I knew Eddie very well, I bought lots of stuff through Eddie at TOMS (then in Bree Street in the centre of town),,,,he unfortunately passed away a good couple of years ago I believe?

Hi Costa,

I can remember that Battle quite well. We didn't win it. We came second-- but I was fortunate enough to win the guitar player award (a few sets of guitar strings and other small stuff) and Tony (the crazy bass player) won the prize for the "best vibe on stage".

Which band were you playing with?

I think that the band that won it was an army entertainment band called "Stratos". I remember being quite pissed at the fact that they played a whole lot of covers and our set was completely original.

I managed to dig up a pic from those days...

Ok, its all coming back to me now,,,,,in fact I remember Garth quite well too, ? We came 3rd, we were the band called FeadBac (not the same Feedback from Cape Town, or the one that popped up from Alberton a few years back)

Circus with Bernie Millar on vocals, and Sandy Robbie on guitar, cant remember much more

They released a cover of "Conquistador but had a brilliant self penned "Stupid Boy" on the other side.
Bernie was an excellent frontman, Saw him and and Glenda play at some resturant in Ponte City in the early 80's

Sandy was a great guitarist, I'd forgotten about him.

We did a residency at Club Orbitique in Pretoria with Bernie and his wife Glenda (from Clout). It was one of the most enjoyable gigs I've ever done.

The guy was an amazing frontman.

As with many, went to a live Rabbitt concert ... and confess to have liked it.

Frequently saw Jennifer Ferguson at a local restaurant / live gig thing in Cape Town.
Was really good.

At a gig where we performed at the Drum Cafe in Cape Town, Wendy Oldfield performed.
She got quite a bit more applause than us.
