Hey Francis,
Firstly, hats off to your selection of a Carl Martin comp. What does it retail for in SA? I've known a couple of guys who have used it and i've heard it in action, and i'm pretty impressed. However, because of my limited finance at the time, i went in for a Boss Sustainer/Comp.
Let me know what you think of it...Cheers

Hehe I know its one of the best and i have no idea what it goes for. Im going window shopping tomorrow and ill find out by andy mcgibbons. It should be fairly expensive tho. I will let you know what i think of it.

Have you checked out the Keeley. I've read great reviews about it. It's expensive, around $200 of ebay.

I bought a compressor saturday, its the Carl Martin compressor/limiter. Im still trying to figure out how it works ? but im gonna borrow my friends sound engineering books on compressors and study it properly. At this point, its just mildly compressing my signal and removing some of the harshe sounds the signal path. Its quite cool and its build like a brick with a build in power supply. Will upload some more screenshots when i have time.

Should I even ask how much it cost ???

Haha it retails for R2100, but i got it at R1500 ? The thing is, carl martin is THE compressor to get in stomp boxes. Most session musicians use it, so there is no upgrade on it. So ill prolly die oneday with it still in mu pedal board.

Which model is it. I was going to buy a Carl Martin drive pedal, but the price, size and the fact that it needed a separate power socket put me off. I like the Keeley cause it's small, works with 9V power supply and the 4 knob version is very versatile. I haven't heard one live, only on recordings and it seems to do the job very well.

I have the carl martin compressor. There is only one ....

I guess the Carl is a good choice since it's locally available.

I think I've managed to dial in my CS-3. I was going to use it on our recording because my Anniversary Editions pickups have a lower output than my Duo Jet, but I ended up using it on the duo jet. I gave it a much fatter sound and really enhanced the character of my drive pedals and guitar.
I think it's a keeper.
