If you can give an indication of how long you've been playing as well, would be awesome.

I voted "Hard work is paying off!" because I saw real improvement in my playing last year, and I have played one or two songs live that I was wanting to play for a long time. My theory knowledge also came along significantly.

I got my first guitar at age 18 (I'm 32 now) but I feel like I've only REALLY been playing for the past 1.5 years.

Some categories just sound cooler than others... plus a bedroom "alpha and omega" < a "this is more like it" for me...

Hahahha. I spend many many hours playing guitar. Just love it.

Even though there is always I mean always room for improvement. You never really become a master in guitar. Just so much to learn and improve on.

The only thing I am very confident about is my guitar playing? I get so excited when I play in front of people. ? :-[

I guess I was trying to convey that personal sense of accomplishment (and scales thereof) as you hold the guitar in your hands and realise that you've achieved something. ?

I voted This is more like it! I can finally do things that impress me. Occasionally. I learn faster, and I can impress people from time to time. A lot further along than I was this time last year.

This was a great poll idea. But it's very tricky. I've seen people who, by all accounts, can shred meaner than a wood-chipper who claim that they are "intermediate" or whatever. Your goalposts keep shifting as you get better. I think a good way to look at it is: what would you have thought of your playing if you'd been watching you the day you first played guitar.

Then I think some of those guys (I'm talking about you Arjun ?) would have to admit that they're pretty damn smokin'.

Im still very much a beginner! Take lessons and everything! but i dont get to play nearly as much as i would like to unfortunately!

so i still struggle with chords and chord progressions! only been playing for 4 months though!

wow this is a tough ask ..........

cos in reality anyone serious about playing guitar and doing pro or semi pro gigs...... must have blind faith in themselves that they may not be the best ,cos who really is, but that they have something to offer in their genre....... or why bother playing out .......

so i do think there are 2 categories here, those who want to get out and gig and those content not to gig , and belive me some of those muso's kick the gigging muso's butts......

BUT for a gigging muso at whatever level, if one lacks self confidence or belief that one has something to offer it's nothing short of professional suicide...... and yes as a pro you forever working on "new tricks" and improving but you can't have the attitude you not ready

me i been a pro muso now for 25yrs ( and successfull enough that i have supported myself from it entirely ) and when i started out i had blind faith in my abilities which got me gigs back in the 80's despite me being pretty sh*tty if i compare it to where i am now......

so yes one needn't be bombastic but one needs to know when you get to an audition that you have the goods to get the gig over the other guys ......... or if you don't stay at home

it's all mindset apparantly golfers and many other pro sports players have a similar belief in the power of mindset

so yeah i picked the " i have a guitar and know how to use it " box .... i think that actually says it all without the ego getting into it
