Calendar + Newsletter

I noticed I left out the calendar link when doing the new look of the site. It's back now and ready to be used. Events posted in the calendar will be sent out in the newsletter which brings me to my next bit of news...

We now have a newsletter... again. Running a newsletter can be a pain so I've taken some of the pain out of it and made it automatically select the latest topics, hot topics & upcoming events. It also shows ads in the hope that you'll see something you like and buy it, making us a few bob on commission ?

Recent articles
Recent blog posts
Recent reviews
Recent lessons
Making it prettier

Contributing articles, events, blog posts, reviews & lessons is going to become an excellent way for you to gain exposure for your business / guitar lessons / whatever. So give it some thought and then email us if you want to submit something on a regular basis.

Did everyone receive their newsletter? Was it useful? Was it hideous? Hints on how I can improve it (without removing the ads, of course)?

Yeah I got mine. Looks great although something to separate the ads a little and distinguish them from forum content would be good.

I forgot to add that, also coming, is an optional editorial that you or I can edit each week for extra info that we want to add to the newsletter. Will be quite cool but it will take a little extra work so might not be ready particularly soon.

I got the newletter but I'm here so often that it was already old news to me ? The Calendar is nice I was going to suggest that you add a calendar feature to the site but there it was all the time just added Saturdays event to it.

Excellent ? I'm hoping the calendar will become an important part of the site with lots of Gigs listed there. For now, only about 5 events (if memory serves) will go out in the newsletter but I may increase it as the number of events increases. I find gig calendars super useful.

I have just received the newsletter for the 4th time today ?

2 of them were fine, 2 were completely garbled. Give me a shout if I should post a picture of the messed up ones...!

I also got it 4 times. Only read the first and deleted the other 3, so can't say if they were garbled code or not.

Got it once, and only in HTML code. The HTML isn't well-formed (no opening or closing <HTML> tags or header section, ferinstance)

Sorry guys! At most you should have received 2. One garbled and one correct. Not sure why it's going out 4 or 5 times ☹

(The garbled one was a mistake coz I forgot to click "send as html", the second was the correction. But it seems as though each was sent 2-3 times.)
