Well, first hint for me is that he/she says it's worth $7,000 and is asking R4,000. So talking crap comes easy to the seller.

If you have the dosh it might be a nice guitar to have in your collection. Not sure if it's worth what he's asking though. (it's advertised on Junkmail as well for R5000.00). Just because it's old doesn't make it collectable.

As for the Pat Boone connection.....
Well, firstly I had to google who the hell Pat Boone is. And nothing in Wiki suggests that the sixties yank version of Bles Bridges would have added any value to any instrument He Might Have played. Even if there is a weirdo with a Pat Boone shrine in the attic, without proper verification even the crazy folk won't spend their money on a Might Have heirloom.

I agree with Chris. It has to be verifiably Boone's guitar or it has no real collector's value. George Gruhn sometimes sells guitars that belonged to somebody or other famous, but he always provides letters of authenticity signed by the original owner etc etc so that you have assurance that it really was so-and-so's guitar.

Well...Pat Boone did tour SA and Rhodesia in 1961...BUT, the guitar was made in 1962 ? according to the seller

There's been a few Mastertones through Hugh's hands already. Neck repairs are not usually an issue as long as they are disclosed up front.

He recently had one that had had been devalued by dint of somebody having taken a power drill to the tone ring. Still worth something, but not as much. Guys who buy Mastertones want the tone ring to be intact as that supposedly is the key to the Mastertone tone/timbre/sound/mojo/wotchamacallit
