So who do you suggest is the market??? Because I suspect that if you route out all these non paying people.... you will be left with little to no money.
That's a semantic game. The market is an exchange - I give you this, you give me that. It's willing buyer, willing seller. By your argument BMW will reduce their market if car thieves are locked up.
You can call them downloaders if you like. You can call them fearless warriors against the evil men in suits. DON'T call them the market because they are NOT the market. They are people who are taking something for nothing without worrying about whether or not the owners are happy with the situation or not. That is not, by any plausible definition, a "market".
That is why they stay Valid as your sounrce of income.... It goes back to adverts for the product... Thats what is happening.... they may not pay to hear the plbum or own it... but of them you get the allegance, you get them at your shows (which they cannot copy)... and you get the few wh will buy a physical CD from the artist OR Vinyl (side note Vinyl sales are going up all over the world)
If you give it away freely and clearly. Then you are still getting something that you deem to be of value in return for those tracks.
It seems very closed minded to say.... they dont pay they are not imprtant... they are !!! they just pay in a different way...
Really? Some might. Most are just interested in getting as much as they can for as little outlay as possible.
An Album is for marketing ones product now, as are singles.....
There is still money to be made.. but its not the holocaust/ appocalypse made out to be
That's a valid approach, but you can't assume that's the case. Some artists may have a business model that relies more on CD sells than live shows, or where the CD/MP3 sales make a significant contribution.
The fact that they're SELLING the CD should be a clue...
