I dunno where this is going, but this morning before work, I dropped by my tutors house to pick up my shipment of picks and was tapping away on his drum kit.......next thing I was running through a few of his tutorials that he uses for beginners and damn.................I enjoyed it...........A LOT.
I have been toying with the fact of giving drumming a go for a while, but never actually got behind a drum kit or even held a drumstick.
So during my lunch hour today, I stopped by my local store and bought a practice pad and a few drumsticks.
Whopping investment of just over R150-00.

That's actually a really good idea though, it'll give you a better idea of time and best of all will help develop independence between your hands ? which is really good for touch technique or for the whole Hedges school of acoustic playing ? heck I just like practicing rudiments for my 8 finger tapping ?

awesome......... yeah great for the co ordination and as chad says if you stick to it your 'time" playing guitar will improve immensely percussion helps you feel time..so you don't need to count it ....... once you 'feel" a groove long as you know where the I beat is it's so easy

I think that melody is built on top of rhythm ...

I'm an absolute beginner but I can already fully grok the desire to flesh out your music portfolio, if only to be able to give yourself something to play along to or put together your own complete tracks without relying on canned percussion and whatnot.
