Sorry for the late reply ☹
I'm living back in Benoni after ten years in Germany.
I play guitar (acoustic + electric) since the age of 8, which makes that 40 years now. I was performing in public since 1981, high school days!!
I like good old rock and roll, blues, reggae, etc. I was turned onto electric guitar in 1979 when I heard Sultans of Swing for the first time, together with Boston's Don't look back album and Van Halen's Eruption.
I played in acoustic bands up until 85 when I bought an Ibanez Blazer and formed a Christian Rock band a la Petra, Whiteheart, etc. In the 90s I found myself short of cash and went semi pro, playing bars and pubs all over the east rand, until my agent took the reins and started sending me further afield. I started as a Flight Engineer on 747's with SAA in 96, and toned down the gigging, going back into the church music.
2001 - left for Germany with my family and very quickly made friends with a bunch of local musos, largely from the Jazz scene and formed a rockabilly quartet which lasted 6 years, as well as going back onto the pro circuit there for a year when I was furloughed in 2003.
Music and guitar playing has been putting food in my fridge on and off throughout my life, and is something I hope to keep doing until I go to the great gig in the sky...
