Wow, very nice, not sure how I originally missed this :-[
I really have to upgrade my cheap, tiny, nine year old pc speakers because after the intro, the upright got completely lost in the vocals, drums and guitar ☹
I hear you there. I'm in the same boat.
Concerning the LP, what does wrap-around refer to?
In 1954 they changed the trapeze tailpiece on the original Les Paul (the kind that attaches at the strap lug and sits in the air so that you can't really rest your hand on it and do any muting) to a wrap-around tailpiece. Strings go in away from the neck and then wrap-around the top and head back to the nut. They changed again in 1956 to the stop tailpiece and separate tune-o-matic bridge to give control over intonation.
But many users of wrap-arounds say that intonation is not nearly as big a problem with them as people have made out.
I think it's a very elegant bridge and if (haha. I said "if" ?) I get another LP one day it'll definitely have one.
