It's clear that there is SOME market for Gibsons in SA.Not just for Gibsons to fans for whom only a Gibson will do, but also to people who want a generic Les Paul or 335 style guitar with good quality and are less fussed about the name on the headstock. That market may not not be big but Gibson can either ignore that market or service it.
The slowly but constantly strengthening rand has also made it easier for companies that want to import goods from the USA.
Since Marshall are dealing directly with Gibson rather than with some 3rd party intermediary we should be hoping for some improvement on pricing.
